ITV STUDIOS - PROJECT 84
Whitewood Scaffolding attends every scaffolding need of homeowners, commercial enterprises and industrial customers across London, however, one of the stand-out projects we have been involved in is ITV Good Morning's hard-hitting Project 84 campaign.
84 statues representing the number of male suicides each week in the UK, featured on the rooftop of the ITV studios in London as part of the CALM charity's campaign to create awareness of male suicide.
Whitewood Scaffolding was selected to work with the project’s creative team and engineers to implement and secure the 84 life-size sculptures, which represent real men who have tragically taken their own lives.
Mark Whitewood, Managing Director of Whitewood Scaffolding comments, “Technically speaking, the main challenge was getting equipment to the roof. The biggest scaffolding we could use was an 8ft tube because the lift was the only means of accessing the roof and 8ft was the largest size that would fit. The building height was 250ft and the lift only went to the 22nd floor, so we then had to walk the equipment up to roof level via 5 flights of stairs."
"We had a team of 4 men, who worked 14 hour days over a 5 day period, in all weather, including snow, to get the job done on time and in budget. There was a strong team spirit, particularly as 2 of the team had experienced the loss of a friend through suicide, and everyone worked at maximum capacity. I couldn’t have asked for more from my team and the support from ITV personnel was unparalleled. It was a truly worthwhile experience for the company to be involved in and we fully support the CALM movement in their efforts."
We have erected safe, reliable scaffolding for many projects including house extensions, new builds, multi-storey refurbishments, retail and industrial properties. Below are a few examples of works in progress and completed:
Interior Scaffolding enabled a specialist painter and decorator to paint the ceiling in gold leaf in a highly sought after property in London.
Brick Cleaning and General Repairs
This scaffolding in Fulham was erected to help bring the building back to its former glory for repointing and general repairs.
This scaffolding was erected for window replacement.
Emergency Call Out
For this project, we received a call at 7pm the night before, as a 5m x 6m gable end had collapsed and fallen into the road. Whitewood Scaffolding arrived at 10pm the same evening and erected a crash deck to prevent anyone getting injured.
Temporary roof erected for a bungalow converting to a two storey in Watford.
Very narrow scaffolding required for guttering
This scaffolding was erected in Sidcup for a restaurant owner, who required a pavement licence to enable us to put the scaffold on the pavement, enabling the restaurant to continue trading whilst carrying out general repairs.
Painting & Decorating
Independent scaffolding erected by Whitewood Scaffolding to allow access for painting and decorating.
Dangerous structure scaffolding required for collapsed building in Brentwood following storm Doris.
